Thursday, June 18th
The culture festival known as Heartland starts on June 18th. Known for its beautiful surroundings at Egeskov Slot on Fyn, for the 10th year running, this festival will host music, art, talks, gastronomical experiences, and glamping. This year’s lineup features several big Danish names, such as The Minds of 99 and Gnags, but also some big international ones, among others, Duran Duran and 4 Non Blondes. Fanø International Kite Fliers Meeting
Thursday also sees the beginning of the annual Kite Fliers Meeting which takes place on the west coast of Denmark in Fanø. For kite fliers and enthusiasts alike, this is an event worth experiencing, as 5000 kites soar the skies for four days.
Sol over Gudhjem
Denmark’s biggest food festival takes place in Gudhjem on Bornholm, starting on June 18th with drinks and dinner prepared by Denmark’s top chefs. Although the festival is worth visiting for the markets and entertainment alone, Sol over Gudhjem is particularly known for its food competitions. The dessert competition takes place on Friday, while the general chef-competition is on Saturday. This is one of the country’s most prestigious cooking competitions, and showcases some of Denmark’s top cooking.
Friday, June 19th
On Friday, June 19th, The Weeknd’s After Hours til Dawn tour makes its way to Parken in Copenhagen for the first of two concerts. The award-winning, Canadian singer is known for hits such as “I Can’t Feel My Face”, “Starboy, “Blinding Lights” and more. With almost sold out shows on both Friday and Saturday, expect a busy Østerbro and a packed metro.
Viborg Snapsting Festival
A week of music, markets, sports and celebrations in the heart of Viborg starts on Friday, June inspiration from the town’s history of markets and culture dating back to the 1700’s, this festival is a colourful street party with children’s activities, street theatre, performances, and international sporting events. World’s Wildest Bridge Builders
For the 6th year running, the “World’s Wildest Bridge Builders” (or Verdens Vildeste Brobyggere in Danish) will take place; this year in Holbæk. The event is a live competition, which gives students seven hours to build a real, functioning bridge.
