An Observation made within Sam Spratt's "IX. The Monument Game" - Once, I was a tree,
Born the second day after the First Rain.
Holy for many and cherished by all,
I was a home for animals and a friend for the First Men.
For the love they gave, I gave back life.
I was the first one to meet the Axe.
I suffered from the iron but suffered even more
from the wood holding it, as it was of my own kind.
Left for dead.
My exile began, and I was sad for so long.
But I am not sad anymore.
The ones who killed my friends killed their own kinds.
Times of fire are upon us…
