Sensex today | Stock Market Live: Sensex, Nifty likely to open lower amid weak global cues and FPI selling
In this news:
Key takeaways
- Bitcoin fell below $85,000 and is testing the $82,000 to $83,000 support zone.
- US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw choppy flows including roughly $168.6 million in outflows on October 7.
- Major altcoins like Ethereum, XRP, and Solana faced sharper selling amid a risk-off shift.
Bitcoin price levels and support zones
Bitcoin is trading around $83,300. BTC has fallen below the $85,000 level after failing to break $87,000. The 82,000-83,000 zone is now the immediate support area. The next support is around $80,000. Resistance has shifted to 84,500-85,000. A sustained break above $85,000 would help stabilise the short-term trend.
ETF demand volatility and on-chain health
ETF demand has turned more volatile. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $102.7 million of inflows on October 1 and $189.9 million on October 2. They then saw about $89.8 million of outflows on October 5. Flows recovered with about $118.8 million of inflows on October 6. This was followed by roughly $168.6 million of outflows on October 7. The contrast with the $999 million inflow on September 21 highlights the recent slowdown.
On-chain indicators remain relatively healthy. Bitcoin’s MVRV is around 1.57 in the latest available reading. SOPR is close to 1. This suggests that holders are still realising small profits. More than 63% of Bitcoin supply had not moved for at least one year as of October 6. However, more than $550 million in crypto positions were liquidated during the recent sell-off.
Altcoin pressure and macroeconomic headwinds
Large-cap altcoins are under pressure. ETH is around $2,620, down about 4.3% over 24 hours. BNB is near $775, down about 0.6%. XRP is around $1.42, down about 5%. SOL is near $117, down about 3.7%. TRX is around $0.33 and is relatively resilient. The broader weakness shows that altcoins are seeing sharper selling than Bitcoin as the market turns risk-off.
Macro has turned less supportive. The Fed minutes retained a hawkish tone on inflation. Markets now see about a 19% probability of an October Fed hike. The dollar index is around 102.2. Oil prices remain elevated. These factors are keeping pressure on risk assets. US CPI on October 14 and the October 27-28 Fed meeting remain key catalysts.
