I often marvel at the complex paths cut by sunlight, from the splendid source of the sun's boiling furnace to the small, curved retinas where those photons settle. Eight and a half minutes about, to cross 93 million miles, before filtering through layers of atmosphere, to fall upon the splendid city of New York, a metal maze of skycrapers that send these beams bouncing toward our eyes. Photography is about finding the beauty in these brilliant interactions, and with the right combination of angles and technique, can a stranger in the park eclipse the sun itself?
In this fleeting moment, a candid shot of a man extending a greeting, wrapped in the light that was sent from so far away, as a thousand stars shine along his edges- these are the moments that make this endless study worth beginning, each and every day.
