About Chimpers
Chitto adjusted the tactical goggles, the river’s glare sharpening into a thousand points of light. The other Chimps in The Heart of the Forest saw an old wanderer with a carved cane, wasting days chasing the ‘Glass-Fin,’ a fish from a children’s tale. They sang and feasted, never understanding Chitto’s quiet obsession. But the goggles weren't for spotting fish; they were for seeing the shimmer of magic where the river ran thin. The cane wasn't for casting, but for sensing vibrations no one else could feel. One evening at dusk, they felt it—a deep thrum that shook the cane in their grip. A flicker of impossible, transparent scales broke the surface and vanished. They didn't catch it, but the proof was enough. The tale is real, and the fool by the river is the only one who knows.
