Aurelia Luminosa, from Latin 'Aurelia' (golden) and 'Luminosa' (luminous), is a bioluminescent Basidiomycota fungus in the genus Aurelia, family Mycenaceae, order Agaricales. It features delicate, translucent, funnel-shaped caps with wavy margins and prominent gills displaying iridescent blue edges and a central magenta luminescent zone emitting 420-490 nm blue-green light. Bioluminescence, likely via luciferin-luciferase oxidation, localizes along gills and stipe. Saprotrophic in tropical forests on nutrient-rich decomposing litter at 5-25°C, it belongs to the 'Iridescent Folia' cluster. Its mycelial network aids decomposition and soil enrichment. Basidiospores disperse from gills, and the species is rare yet ecologically significant in nutrient cycling and biodiversity.
