Luminocorona Alboflare, a bioluminescent fungus in the cluster Luminorialis Aurorae (family Luminoreaceae, order Agaricales), features irregular, ruffled caps with white to creamy nodules and broad, deeply ridged gill-like structures transitioning from cream to orange. The reduced stipe forms a bracket-like fruiting body. Bioluminescence occurs at cap margins and undersides, emitting blue-green light (420-490 nm) via a luciferin-luciferase system in extracellular hyphae. It inhabits tropical forest floors on decomposing leaf litter and wood, thriving at 5-25°C, playing a saprotrophic role in nutrient cycling. Spores disperse by wind from irregular spore surfaces. Its extensive mycelium decomposes lignocellulose, supporting forest health. Habitat loss threatens this key species reflecting tropical forest biodiversity.
