Luminosa Fungia Spectralis, named for its luminous, fungal, and spectral traits, is a bioluminescent fungus in the Luminispectra Chromagloria cluster. It features trumpet-shaped fruiting bodies with undulating caps in magenta to violet hues, marked by glowing yellow-orange spots on the cap interior and gill margins. Gills radiate from a fibrous stipe (10-25 cm) with faint blue luminescent outlines, reflecting bioluminescent cells. Emitting blue-green light (470-530 nm) via a luciferin-luciferase system, it inhabits tropical forest floor litter in stable, rare populations at 5-20 °C. As a saprotroph in Agaricales, genus Luminosa, family Chromagloriaceae, it decomposes leaf litter and woody substrates, aiding nutrient cycling. Elevated, phototropic fruiting bodies promote wind spore dispersal, while its mycelium sustains forest biodiversity.
