Luminatus Herculea, from Latin luminatus (illuminated) and herculea (robust), is a bioluminescent fungal species in the Galactic Mycelium cluster. It features a vivid orange-yellow convex to funnel-shaped cap with speckled patterns and wavy margins, exposing gills that shift from deep to lighter orange near the stipe. The thick, translucent stem tapers slightly, revealing luminescent tissues. Measuring 10-30 cm tall and weighing 50-150 g, it emits a blue-violet glow (450-495 nm) via a luciferin-luciferase system, mainly in cap and gill tissues, active in 10-20°C tropical canopies. Classified tentatively in Agaricales, family incertae sedis, it prefers decaying woody substrates in humid canopy layers. Spore dispersal occurs through airborne basidiospores from elevated gills. Its mycelium aids organic decomposition, sustaining nutrient cycles and biodiversity. Vulnerable status underscores canopy microhabitat conservation.
