Despite Ethereum price plunging by more than 7% over the past 7 days through October 9, 2026, its reserves on all cryptocurrency exchanges have experienced a freefall to a new multi-year low.
Ethereum’s reserve simple moving average on all crypto exchanges was at 14,742,387.9 ETH on Friday, according to data Finbold analyzed from CryptoQuant.
The supply of available ETH on all CEXs has plummeted by 6,382,160.7 Ethereum, or a decline of 30.21%, down from 21,124,548.6 ETH on July 18, 2025.
Binance leads exchange reserve capitulation
The recent capitulation of ETH reserves on all crypto exchanges was catalyzed by Binance, the leading cryptocurrency exchange in daily trading volume and registered users.
Notably, Ethereum’s reserve on Binance was at 3,574,345.43 ETH at the time of writing. As a result, Binance’s supply of ETH has fallen by 256,187.79 ETH, or a 6.69% downside, from 3,830,533.22 ETH on August 1, 2026.
The notable decline in Ethereum reserves on all exchanges is historically associated with renewed demand, as investors move ETH to self-custody. BlackRock Inc., through its iShares Ethereum Trust ETF, has led the ongoing ETH accumulation with a net cash inflow of about $2.468 billion over the past 4 months, as revealed by data from SoSoValue.
Institutional demand supports bullish sentiment
Amid the renewed institutional demand for ETH over the past few months, ETH price has climbed nearly 14%, trading at approximately $2,490.91 at the time of publication.
As such, the renewed ETH withdrawal from crypto exchanges, potentially fueled by institutional investors, has bolstered bullish sentiment.
