JioStar’s ‘India Ke Top 1%’ pulls in seven big sponsors
In this news:
MUMBAI: JioStar is playing this one smart, and the sponsors know it. Before India Ke Top 1% has aired a single question, the broadcaster has already lined up seven marquee advertisers, a haul that signals genuine commercial appetite rather than a marketing department ticking boxes. The show, positioned as a fresh take on Indian quiz entertainment, premieres on Star Plus and JioHotstar from 19 September, and it arrives with its ad book already looking rather healthy. Google Search AI leads the pack as the co-presented by sponsor, flanked by Shree Cement, CoinSwitch, Birla Opus and as co-powered by partners. Denver Perfumes has signed on as fragrance partner, while Avaada rounds things off as clean energy partner. Seven sponsors, spanning technology, cement, crypto trading, paints, fragrance and clean energy, all queuing up for a format that has not yet proved itself on screen. That is a rather emphatic vote of confidence. The premise itself is the real hook. India Ke Top 1% ditches the textbook trivia and historical dates that have defined Indian quiz shows for decades, betting instead on logic, common sense and lateral thinking. The pitch is deceptively simple, a ten-year-old and a sixty-year-old grandparent can compete on equal footing, because the format rewards how contestants observe and adapt rather than what they have crammed. That levelling of the playing field is precisely what makes it a multi-generational co-viewing proposition, and precisely why advertisers have piled in early. Mahesh Shetty, head, entertainment sales, TV at JioStar, put it plainly: brands today want more than visibility, they want contextual integration that builds lasting recall. The novelty of the format, he argues, lets JioStar design brand extensions that sit inside the viewing experience rather than interrupting it. That is a shrewd pitch in an advertising market increasingly weary of straightforward spot placements. JioStar frames this as part of a broader strategy across its non-fiction slate, one built to move viewers from simple awareness to actual brand action, a full-funnel approach rather than a scattergun one. With a television and streaming reach of over 800 million viewers weekly, JioStar has the scale to make that pitch credible. If the sponsor list is any indication, advertisers are betting the format delivers on it.
