Ndarama targets expansion with secondary market and token-backed lending

In this news:

Zimbabwean fintech startup Ndarama says it is entering its next phase of growth after completing its first month of operations, with plans to launch a secondary trading market, token-backed lending products and additional payment channels in the coming weeks.
The company, which describes itself as Zimbabwe’s first SECZIM-approved blockchain-based real asset investment platform, said 24 investors have already participated in its inaugural project, Graylands Park, since the platform went live last month.
The platform allows investors to buy fractional interests in real-world assets from as little as US$1.
In an update to investors, Ndarama said one of its biggest milestones over the past month had been its engagement with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe (SECZIM), which it described as a collaborative regulatory partner as the company navigates the emerging tokenised investment sector.
The company operates within SECZIM’s regulatory sandbox framework and is seeking to build a regulated marketplace for fractional ownership of property and other real-world assets.
Independent custody and trustee services are provided through Kreston Zimbabwe, according to the company.
Among the most significant developments planned for the coming weeks is the launch of a peer-to-peer lending service that will enable investors to use their property-backed tokens as collateral for loans without having to dispose of their investments. The company said lenders on the platform would be able to earn returns by funding loans issued against tokenised assets.
Token-backed lending is a financial model that allows investors to borrow money using digital assets as collateral. Rather than selling their investments to raise cash, investors can use their token holdings as security for a loan, enabling them to access funds while retaining ownership of the underlying asset. The approach is designed to provide liquidity for personal expenses, business opportunities or further investments without requiring investors to exit their positions.
John Paul Matenga, founder and chief executive officer of Ndarama is on record saying; “This isn’t crypto for crypto users. It’s blockchain infrastructure quietly working in the background to deliver real financial utility — real dollars, real assets, real protection — through systems people already trust and understand.”
Additional payment methods, including ZimSwitch, OneMoney and bank card transactions, are also expected to be introduced as the company seeks to broaden access to its investment products.
The fintech firm revealed it is finalising a partnership with a microfinance institution that would allow users to borrow directly against their token holdings at what it describes as competitive rates.
Ndarama’s broader strategy centres on using blockchain technology to lower barriers to entry for investment in sectors traditionally dominated by institutions and wealthy individuals, including property, infrastructure, agriculture and energy.
The platform’s model combines fractional ownership, secondary-market trading and collateralised lending into a single ecosystem.
Looking ahead, the company says it aims to tokenise US$5 million worth of Zimbabwean real-world assets by the end of 2026, expand into additional asset classes and grow its user base to 10,000 active investors.
The startup also plans to pursue full Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) licensing and expand its model into other African markets as demand for alternative investment and lending solutions continues to grow.
